I would like to thank you for your interest in learning more about
our residency program. As a brief introduction, our program has
a pgy 1-4 format, and is designed to provide outstanding clinical
and academic training in Emergency Medicine. We are affiliated with
two terrific tertiary care hospitals, Brigham and Women's Hospital
and Massachusetts General Hospital, both of which have a long tradition
in residency training in many disciplines. We also have the support
of Harvard Medical School, and access to its many resources.
The mission of our program revolves around the development of outstanding
clinicians, and the development of areas of academic interest. The
clinical environment is one of high acuity, high patient volume,
and a tremendous variety of illnesses. There is a progression of
responsibility designed to focus on clinical development. From the
standpoint of academic development, there are many resources available
to our residents within our departments and throughout the institution.
Our residents have 5 months of elective time during their training,
beginning in the pg-2 year, designed to help pursue an area of interest.
We also have a system of faculty advisors and mentors who help guide
residents through this process of clinical and academic development.
I would encourage you to look through our website in order to learn
more about our program. If there is any information that you do
not find on the website, please feel free to call the residency
office and we would be glad to help answer any questions. I would
also encourage you to contact any of our residents. We are fortunate
to have terrific group of residents, and I am sure they would be
happy to answer any questions or give you more information.
Thanks again for your interest in our program,
Eric Nadel M.D.
