Welcome to the Brigham and Women's Hospital/ Massachusetts General
Hospital Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR)
web site.
Five teaching hospitals sponsor our program. Each institution is
nationally renowned for post-graduate education and all are academic
leaders in medicine. These hospitals include:
Brigham and Women's Hospital
Massachusetts General Hospital
Mount Auburn Hospital
Children's Hospital
Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
Each of these institutions is fully committed to support of our
four-year residency program in clinical, academic, and administrative
emergency medicine.
At BWH/MGH HAEMR, junior residents are exposed to the entire spectrum
of emergencies and develop advanced proficiency in wide-ranging
clinical care, airway management, and other essential procedural
skills. Senior residents are given considerable responsibility through
supervising and teaching medical and surgical resuscitation, and
learn to direct the management of a busy emergency department. The
four-year format allows residents to develop superlative clinical
abilities, augmented by advanced skills in research, administration,
health care finances, and academic leadership.
